56 kilometres of beach. A hinterland of ancient rainforest. Australia's theme park capital. The Gold Coast is bigger, bolder, and more varied than most visitors realise β and a local guide shows you the parts that the resort strips don't advertise. From Brisbane or the Gold Coast itself.
See All Tours Explore the HinterlandMost visitors to the Gold Coast stay in Surfers Paradise, walk the beach, and leave thinking they've seen it. They've seen about 5% of it. The Gold Coast is a genuinely complex destination β a 56km coastal strip backed by a lush hinterland of ancient volcanic ranges, subtropical rainforest, and national parks that most visitors drive straight past on their way to the beach.
Our Gold Coast tours are built around this reality. The beaches are extraordinary β but so is Tamborine Mountain's rainforest, the Natural Bridge glow-worm cave in Springbrook, Lamington National Park's 160km of walking tracks, and the Scenic Rim's agricultural heartland. A half-day with a knowledgeable local guide transforms the Gold Coast from a beach holiday into one of Australia's most varied and surprising regional experiences.
The essential Gold Coast β Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads headland walk, Broadbeach dining precinct, and a hinterland stop at Tamborine Mountain. The definitive one-day Gold Coast experience from Brisbane.
Beyond the beach β Tamborine Mountain, Natural Bridge glow-worm cave, Springbrook National Park, and Curtis Falls rainforest walk. The Gold Coast that most visitors never discover and locals love best.
The Gold Coast's theme park precinct is one of Australia's great family attractions β Movie World, Dreamworld, Sea World, and Wet'n'Wild in a 5km strip. This tour combines theme park access with a morning beach stop for the full Gold Coast experience.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the Gold Coast's finest wildlife experience β lorikeet feeding, koala encounters, crocodile shows, and free-range kangaroos β combined with an afternoon at the beautiful southern beaches of Currumbin and Palm Beach.
The Gold Coast's premium experience β Lamington National Park ancient rainforest, Scenic Rim farm gate producers, the O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat, and a curated lunch at a Canungra Valley winery. For guests who want the Gold Coast without the crowds.
Your group only. Your itinerary. Your pace. Private Gold Coast tours are ideal for couples, families, corporate groups, and anyone who wants the region's best without compromise β or who wants to combine multiple experiences in a single bespoke day.
The Gold Coast's beach strip is continuous for 56 kilometres β from Coolangatta in the south to Main Beach in the north β and each section has a completely different character. Most visitors spend their entire stay in the 2km between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. Our guides show you the full spectrum.
Burleigh Heads is a national park headland with a genuinely beautiful beach and one of the Gold Coast's most liveable cafΓ© cultures. Palm Beach is quieter, more local, and increasingly regarded as the coast's most authentic neighbourhood. Coolangatta sits on the Queensland-NSW border with a remarkable twin-town character and consistent surf breaks.
The ranges immediately behind the Gold Coast beach strip contain some of the most biodiverse subtropical rainforest in the southern hemisphere. Most visitors never look up from the sand long enough to notice the green mountains behind the skyline. Our hinterland tours are consistently rated the most surprising and memorable Gold Coast experience by guests who book them.
525 metres above the coast with its own microclimate, working wineries, art galleries, and rainforest walking tracks. The Gallery Walk village strip is one of Southeast Queensland's most pleasant artisan precincts. Views back across the entire Gold Coast city and coast from the escarpment edge are genuinely dramatic.
A basalt arch formed by millennia of creek erosion β and beneath it, one of the only places in the world where glow-worms breed above a waterfall. The 1km loop walk through subtropical rainforest in Springbrook National Park leads to this extraordinary natural chamber. At dusk, the glow-worm display is spectacular.
21,000 hectares of ancient subtropical and warm temperate rainforest β a UNESCO World Heritage listed ecosystem with 160km of walking tracks, 200+ bird species, platypus in the streams, and tree canopies that predate European settlement. O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat at the park's edge has been welcoming guests since 1926.
The Canungra Valley in the Scenic Rim produces exceptional cool-climate wines at altitude β largely unknown even to most Queenslanders. Witches Falls Winery and Canungra Valley Vineyards both welcome visitors for tastings in a setting that looks nothing like any other wine region in Australia.
A 2km return walk through Gondwana rainforest leads to a 40-metre cascade into a rock pool that has been a Gold Coast hinterland destination since the 1920s. The walk is accessible for most fitness levels and the forest is dominated by enormous Antarctic beech trees that are hundreds of years old.
The agricultural valleys behind the Gold Coast produce extraordinary food β macadamia nuts, tropical fruit, artisan cheese, honey, and market-garden vegetables. The Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail connects producers who sell direct to visitors. Our luxury tour includes curated stops along this trail with guide-led tastings.
The Gold Coast's theme park precinct between Coomera and Oxenford is one of Australia's great family destinations β four major parks within 5 kilometres, each with a distinct character. Our theme park combo tour includes entry, hotel pickup, and guide advice on how to maximise your time in whichever park you choose.
| Park | Best For | Signature Experience | Age Sweet Spot | On Our Tour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Movie World | Thrill rides & DC Comics fans | DC Rivals HyperCoaster | 10β40 | β Entry included |
| Dreamworld | Families with mixed ages | Tower of Terror II | 6β50 | β Entry included |
| Sea World | Marine life & younger children | Polar Bear Shores | 4β35 | β Entry included |
| Wet'n'Wild | Water slides & summer days | Kamikaze water slide | 8β30 | β Entry included |
Our advice: Choose one park and do it thoroughly rather than attempting two. A full day at Movie World or Dreamworld β arriving at opening, beating the queues on the big rides before 11am, and enjoying the shows in the afternoon β is far better than half a day at each. Your guide will advise on the best option based on your group's ages and preferences.
Never a coach. Never a number. Our maximum group size of 14 means the guide knows every guest's name, adjusts to the group's energy, and takes you places larger groups can't go.
We collect you from your Brisbane CBD, South Bank, or Gold Coast accommodation. No taxi to a departure point, no meeting at a bus stop β we come to you.
Our guides have been taking visitors into the Gold Coast hinterland for fifteen years. We know the unmarked tracks, the private lookouts, and the winery owners by name. This is access you can't buy independently.
Fifteen years of Gold Coast touring means we know every season, every road condition, every crowd pattern, and every new experience that's opened in the region. This experience is visible in every day we operate.
The Gold Coast is genuinely good year-round β but what's best about it varies significantly by season. Here's the honest guide.
Beach season at its peak. Hot, humid, and lively. Afternoon thunderstorms are dramatic and frequent. Best water temperature (26Β°C). Theme parks at maximum capacity β book well ahead. School holiday crowds from mid-December.
Our favourite Gold Coast season. Humidity drops, temperatures remain warm (22β27Β°C), and the hinterland landscapes are extraordinary. Ocean still warm through April. Shoulder pricing on accommodation and tours. Highly recommended.
Spectacularly clear and comfortable. Perfect for hinterland walks (Lamington, Springbrook). Ocean cool (20Β°C) but beach walks outstanding. Whale watching visible from Burleigh Heads headland. July school holidays bring brief crowd peak.
Wildflowers in the hinterland heath. Warming ocean returning. The Gold Coast Turf Club's spring carnival adds racing culture to the calendar. October to November builds toward summer warmth with excellent beach conditions. Jacarandas visible inland.
"We'd been to the Gold Coast three times and always stayed in Surfers Paradise. The hinterland tour completely changed our understanding of the place. Tamborine Mountain, the glow-worm cave, the rainforest walk β none of it felt like the same destination. We'll never stay on the beach strip again without spending a day in the hinterland."
"The Highlights tour was the perfect introduction to the Gold Coast from Brisbane. Surfers Paradise is genuinely impressive in person β the scale of it β but Burleigh Heads headland was the moment the group really gasped. Our guide knew exactly where to stand, exactly when the light was right. An extraordinarily well-run day."
"Brought four kids (aged 7 to 14) on the Theme Park Combo and our guide made the whole day work β Movie World in the morning when the big rides had no queues, beach at Broadbeach for lunch, and back in time for the afternoon shows. The kids called it the best day of the holiday. The parents agreed."
Six different tours. From the beach strip to the rainforest ranges. Hotel pickup from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Small groups of max 14, expert local guides, free 48-hour cancellation.
