What You'll Experience
Glass House Mountains Lookouts
Your first stop takes in the dramatic volcanic peaks that Captain Cook named in 1770. The lookout platforms offer 180-degree views across the Sunshine Coast hinterland — on a clear day you can see from Moreton Island to Noosa.
Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
A 2 km elevated boardwalk winds through a pocket of subtropical rainforest that has been protected since 1941. Look for pademelons, brush turkeys, and python-friendly trees. The Rainforest Discovery Centre adds context with interactive displays.
Montville & Maleny Villages
Perched along the Blackall Range, these twin villages are the heart of the hinterland — art galleries, cheese shops, fudge makers, bookshops, and cafés with views that stretch all the way to the ocean. Your lunch stop is here.
Noosa Main Beach & Hastings Street

Good to Know
- Duration: Approximately 10–11 hours from Brisbane; 8.5–9 hours from Sunshine Coast pick-ups.
- Fitness level: Easy. The Mary Cairncross boardwalk is flat and well maintained (approx. 2 km). All other stops involve minimal walking. Suitable for seniors, families, and anyone who prefers a relaxed pace.
- Children: All ages welcome. The rainforest walk, beach time, and village browsing are popular with kids. Pushchairs can manage the boardwalk and village footpaths.
- What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes, swimwear (worn under clothes), sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, light jacket (the hinterland is cooler), camera, and spending money for lunch and shopping.
- Group size: Small groups of up to 12 guests.
- Hinterland climate: The Blackall Range is typically 5–8°C cooler than the coast, especially in the rainforest. A light jacket or cardigan is recommended even in summer.
- Accessibility: The Mary Cairncross boardwalk is wheelchair accessible. Village streets are mostly flat. Please advise of any mobility needs at booking.
