Cairns Arrival · Great Barrier Reef

The World Beneath the Surface

Your North Queensland adventure begins with a comfortable coach journey to Cairns. Morning snacks and local commentary set the scene before you board a luxury catamaran for the outer reef. Snorkel above coral gardens teeming with tropical fish and sea turtles, or explore the reef from a glass-bottom boat if you prefer to stay dry. Lunch is served on board the reef vessel.

  • Scenic coach departure with expert commentary
  • Outer reef snorkelling with marine biologist guide
  • Optional scuba diving introduction
  • Glass-bottom boat for non-swimmers
  • On-board reef lunch — fresh local seafood
  • Cairns hotel check-in & evening dinner
Tip: Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and an underwater camera. Snorkelling equipment and flotation devices are provided — no experience needed.

2Day
Daintree Rainforest · Cape Tribulation

The World's Oldest Living Forest

Head north from Cairns into the Daintree — at 180 million years old, the world's oldest surviving tropical rainforest and a UNESCO World Heritage site. A guided rainforest walk reveals towering fan palms, strangler figs and rare wildlife: cassowaries, tree kangaroos, pythons and Boyd's forest dragons. Your guide shares the deep cultural significance of the forest to the Kuku Yalanji people, its traditional custodians.

After a rainforest lodge lunch, continue to Cape Tribulation — the dramatic headland where the ancient forest walks directly into the Coral Sea. An afternoon beach walk or optional sea kayak lets you experience one of Australia's most extraordinary meeting points of two World Heritage ecosystems.

  • Guided Daintree Rainforest walk
  • Daintree River crocodile cruise
  • Indigenous cultural experience
  • Rainforest lodge lunch with tropical produce
  • Cape Tribulation beach walk
  • Optional sea kayak or guided coastal walk
Tip: Comfortable walking shoes and insect repellent are essential. A waterproof camera or case captures the waterfalls and forest streams beautifully.

Atherton Tablelands · Return

Waterfalls, Crater Lakes & Highland Cool

The Atherton Tablelands offer a striking contrast to the coast — rolling green highlands at 700–900 metres altitude, carved by ancient volcanoes into a landscape of crater lakes, waterfalls and lush farmland. Begin with the famous Millaa Millaa Falls (one of Australia's most photographed swimming holes), then explore Lake Barrine and Lake Eacham — two perfectly circular volcanic crater lakes ringed by ancient rainforest.

A visit to a local farm market showcases the Tablelands' exceptional tropical and cool-climate produce before the scenic return journey south, through the lush Atherton Tablelands countryside, reflecting on three unforgettable days.

  • Millaa Millaa Falls — swimming optional
  • Lake Barrine — optional boat cruise
  • Lake Eacham & rainforest walk
  • Local farm & market visit
  • Farm-to-table café lunch, Tablelands produce
  • Scenic return to Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast
Tip: Bring light layers — the Tablelands can be 8–10°C cooler than coastal Cairns. Binoculars are ideal for spotting native birds in the highland rainforest.
