Welcome to Auckland

Built on a narrow isthmus between the Waitematā and Manukau harbours — and on top of 48 dormant volcanic cones — Auckland is a city shaped by water and fire. It's Polynesia's largest city, New Zealand's most cosmopolitan, and consistently ranked among the world's most liveable urban environments.

Beyond the Sky Tower skyline lies a city of hidden beaches, volcanic summits with panoramic views, a world-class food scene shaped by Pacific, Asian, and European cultures, and a sailing heritage that has earned it the name "City of Sails." With Waiheke Island's vineyards just a 40-minute ferry ride away and Rangitoto's volcanic silhouette always on the horizon, nature is never far from the heart of the city.

Our Auckland city tours reveal the stories, neighbourhoods, and viewpoints that most visitors miss entirely — whether you're here for a half day before heading south to Rotorua and Waitomo, or spending several days exploring the wider region.

From harbour-front icons to volcanic summits, these are the highlights that define the City of Sails.

⏱ How long is the Auckland city tour?

Our full-day Auckland tour runs approximately 6–7 hours with hotel pickup and drop-off, comfortable transport, and an expert local guide throughout. The half-day option covers the main highlights in 3–4 hours and is ideal if you're departing Auckland later that day.

🗓️ How many days should I spend in Auckland?

One full day covers the major city highlights comfortably. Two to three days allows you to add Waiheke Island, Devonport, North Shore beaches, and Rangitoto Island. Many visitors use Auckland as a starting base for a wider North Island itinerary including Rotorua, Waitomo, and Hobbiton.

🚗 Can I combine Auckland with Rotorua or Waitomo?

Absolutely — Auckland is the most common starting point for North Island tours. We offer seamlessly connected multi-day itineraries heading south to Rotorua's geothermal parks, Waitomo's glowworm caves, and the Hobbiton Movie Set. Many guests combine all three into a 3–4 day North Island itinerary from Auckland.

⛴ How do I get to Waiheke Island?

Fullers360 ferries depart from downtown Auckland's ferry terminal every 30–60 minutes, with the crossing taking approximately 40 minutes with beautiful harbour views. We can include a Waiheke Island wine-tasting excursion as part of your Auckland experience — just mention it when booking.

🌤️ When is the best time to visit Auckland?

Auckland is enjoyable year-round thanks to its mild subtropical climate. Summer (December–February) is warmest with the best beach weather. Autumn (March–May) offers mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and beautiful light. Winter (June–August) is mild at 10–15°C with occasional rain but uncrowded attractions. We run tours in all seasons.

💰 What's included in the tour price?

All Auckland city tours include hotel pickup and drop-off, comfortable small-group transport with a maximum of 16 guests, and an expert Auckland-based guide for the full duration. Lunch, Sky Tower entry, and any ferry tickets (Waiheke or Devonport) are at your own expense unless specified in the itinerary at booking.
