Complete with a Biological Sustainable Horticulture philosophy, this family owned heritage business takes seriously their custodianship of the land as they seek to educate, share and unlock nature’s secrets with visitors, community and family alike. Since 1983, Tropical Fruit World (formerly Avocado land) has trail ​blazed in linking fruit farming with tourism.

Set amongst rainforest, water catchments and the rolling volcanic mineral soil from the caldera of Mount Warning, this working fruit farm is situated in the prime environment to grow over 500 fruits from right throughout the world.

The Tropical Fruit World brand encompasses guided tours and tastings, a farm owned fruit market Plantation Markets, and a regional dining and event venue Plantation House, coupled with a unique collection of skincare and food products The Plantation Collection.

HUSK DISTILLERS
They are farmers as well as distillers. This means they make rum from the finest quality, freshly crushed cane juice grown on their farm. An approach known as the French-style or Rhum Agricole.

When you taste their rum, you will discover a body and character unlike traditional molasses rums. Take Pure Cane, their unaged Agricole and their most pure expression. This sparkling, crystal clear liquid exhibits an unparalleled freshness with herbal and floral aromas, light and fruity with sweet sugar cane and citrus notes and a well-balanced, pastries' finish – a world away from many one-dimensional, almost vodka-like molasses-based white rums.

In the barrel, this complexity of flavor develops further with a depth of character not often seen in traditional rums.
It’s also been said that their rums are lighter and less pungent than many French agricoles, which use traditional nineteenth century production methods and are strictly controlled by the AOC rhum agricole rules.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional, their production methods were designed to complement their provenance and local cane varieties and to suit the Australian palate.

Finally, their location in one of the world’s deepest calderas - wedged between the Pacific Ocean and the Gondwana Rainforest with its big daily and annual temperature changes makes their barrels work hard and dictates the maturation dynamics that help define their provenance.
